Questions captains ask.
Does everyone need the app?
No. Nobody has to download anything: The Perch works in any phone browser, Android included, and the iPhone app is free. Golfers with a free Perch account score their own matches and follow the cup board, and one golfer can score the whole group, guests included. You can add golfers without an account as guests and type their scores in yourself. The schedule builder works in any browser with no account at all.
What does it cost?
Free for trips up to 40 golfers, or up to 120 when everyone pays their share by card through Perch. If you have never had a host plan, you can also claim your first event free at Plus level, for up to 120 golfers. Everyone else plays free. The only other cost is Perch's fee ($4 or 5%, whichever is lower, included in the price golfers see) if you collect trip money by card through Perch.
Can we use our own format?
Yes. The builder mixes eight session formats, including four-ball, foursomes, singles, scrambles, Chapman and greensomes, at 1 to 5 points a match, and works out the points in play and the points to win. In the app you can go further, with custom match formats, separate points for the front nine, back nine and overall, and a match-win bonus. When the schedule looks right, save it straight into your cup.
